Everyone take a moment and read this blog entry from Psychology Today:

"As Thanksgiving approaches, I think it's important to take a gratitude inventory. A number of things in life can make us uncomfortable or even a little miffed. But sometimes they are gifts in disguise. With that in mind, here are my top ten things to be thankful for.

1. Be thankful for growing older. Not everyone gets this opportunity. Aging with health and grace is a rare and beautiful gift.
2. Be thankful that you can read these words. It is a very sad thing that many people do not have the ability to read.
3. If you have to wait in line at the supermarket for your Thanksgiving dinner, be thankful that you can afford what you want to eat and have a convenient place to buy it. We are all aware of the many people waiting in line to have a meal at the local homeless shelter.
4. Be thankful for the ability to pay your bills, even if it means that you have to give up some things that you want. Remember that having basic needs met is a luxury for many people.
5. If you have to get up before dawn to get to work, be thankful that you get to see another sunrise and have a job to go to. Think about what it would be like if you slept everyday until noon and spent the rest of your waking hours wondering what to do with your life.
6. When you're stuck in traffic, be thankful you have a car to get where you need to go and money to buy gas. Standing in the rain while waiting for a bus is, at the very least, uncomfortable.
7. When the kids are screaming at each other, be thankful that you have children to love and who love you, and remember that at least some of the time, they do get along. There will always be bumps in the road, but they are usually followed by easier times.
8. When your mate is acting grumpy or giving you a hard time, be thankful for having love in your life and someone to grow old with. A life partner is something that less than half the population has. Having your partner is a blessing that needs to be counted several times.
9. When your parents are telling you how to run your life, be thankful that you still have them around. If they are no longer with you, take a moment to be thankful for the time you had with them.
10. When you sit down with your loved ones for your Thanksgiving dinner, be thankful for everyone and everything that makes it possible. Look your family and friends in the eye and express to them your gratitude for sharing this wonderful time together.

Thanksgiving is a very special holiday. Embrace those around you and your ability to give thanks to those you love."

Two weeks before high school graduation, an 18 year old girl stopped by her local library late at night to return her books. She was later found brutally raped and beaten half to death. The victim is now suffering from brain damage, unable to speak or move, and is now blind. Due to the incident, her family is nearly bankrupt and her Medicaid recently expired. She had a full ride scholarship to a University. Now, her recent progress was lifting her head for merely 10 seconds.

After hearing about this story, we were inspired to help the victim and her family. We are hosting a fashion show fundraiser on September 27, 2008. Americans are so spoiled. One of the members of my community complains of having to "penny pinch" with a 60k income (her single mom's). Uhmmmm. Yea. That's higher than the median US income, and her city isn't even as big or popular as Orlando (she claims that her city is "big"). If my mom, with a 12k (poverty-level I believe?) income can pay for everything for a whole family (dad, my brother, me, and herself), then I seriously doubt she needs to worry about money. I believe she wastes money somehow, or spends unnecessary money. I also think her mom could probably save money here and there in many different ways, which I tried to help the "poor" girl with with a link to MSN Money articles (they're my money-saving sources). However, this hand extensive was offensive and she froze the replies, lol. Whatever, I'm the maintainer.

Anyway, that's just one example of spoiled. I see it everywhere. I'm spoiled too, even though I'm practically jobless right now. I have all of these luxuries when a lot of the world dreams for these gifts. But it's not owning material things or having special privileges that I care about, it's how people waste so many resources because they are spoiled. More importantly, people who imply that they are poor or struggle with money when they are being wasteful, selfish, spoiled, etc. is just plain STUPID (and annoying), which is why I think Americans (or anyone who behaves this way) are stupid.

I think people need to watch some movies involving poverty or war or something.. I like "The Joy Luck Club" and "Heaven and Earth." Those movies made me realize how lucky I am to be here. Exposure to those situations might make people appreciate their parents and life more..

.. not quite sure where I'm going with this post, but some people need to stfu.

I don't think anybody but Brian here is a parent, but I thought this information may be useful in the future:

"Are whipped cream and nail polish remover really dangerous? Experts say yes, based on recent huffing, sniffing and dusting trends.

... Some of the most common inhalants include:
compressed air computer cleaners
nail polish remover
correction fluid
butane lighter refills
aerosols such as hair spray, deodorant, even whipped cream !

... The worst-case consequences are cardiac arrest (known as Sudden Sniffing Death syndrome) or suffocation due to lack of oxygen, but cumulative injury can occur as well. "With prolonged use, you can damage just about any organ in the body, including the brain, heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys," Shurtleff says.

... Kids who are sniffing inhalants may appear to be in a drunken daze. Other common signs include chemical odors on the breath and paint stains on the face or hands, along with slurred speech and red, runny eyes.

... With kids trying huffing as early as fourth grade (ages 9-10), it's never too early to raise the topic. When you're using a potentially harmful household product -- painting a room, for example -- take the opportunity to talk about the risks from inhaling the fumes. Point out the warning labels on the product."

I wanted to let everyone know this Saturday, 02-25-06,
the Neo-Nazis are coming to protest in the downtown
area.

Orlando Police, along with the Orange County Sheriff's
Office, is asking anyone and everyone to stay away
from the downtown area in an attempt to not have these
small-minded people come back.

This is the very same group, where a few months ago in
Toledo, Ohio, caused a major riot which resulted in multiple
injuries, etc. etc.

I am asking you repost this because for one, these people
spread hate and have a tendency to get other's fired up which
results in fights. The second reason I'm asking you to repost this
is because I will be one of the cops on standby should things
get bad. So if for any reason you do repost this please do it not only for my safety, but for the safety of all the police officers that will be downtown.

Help us protect you by doing two things:

1) stay away from downtown
2) repost this bulletin

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

The post invited many comments... To summarize and generalize, the liberals rant about Bush and the government for not preparing or preventing for the hurricane (Bush being on vacation, Bush riding bikes and playing guitar while Katrina kills people and flooding the city, Congress cutting funding for NO's safety, etc.). The conservatives point back with, "What have you done?" as if any of us civilians are responsible for a country, or make jokes about Moore's weight and ("lack of") talent in directing. Dumbasses I say. Which, you know, just sets me further into the path that says: Left > Right. Some of you Righties make me sick. At least, according to MSN, more and more people are finally realizing that voting for Bush was a horrible mistake. Unfortunately, it takes thousands of lives (or more?) in order to open their eyes..

P.S. I think everyone should read the letter, regardless of political party, because while Michael Moore annoys many people, he does raise good points.

Sooo, since Bel and Matt needed a ride to Chuck E Cheese, I picked them up in Vuong's car. There were so many huge puddles.. I accidentally drove 50 into one. =( Matt's road is tiny.. but whatever, I guess. We made it there a few minutes after 6 PM though, so yay!

We found Merc (wheresmyhookah) waiting inside, but God nor his daughter were there. We waited outside for the rest to show up.. Soon Elmo and Hermann came, along with Nate and the 7th graders. We found out that God wasn't bringing his daughter because she's sick. =( We went inside and sat in some booths. God sat with us girls, yea! But then Chuck E Cheese moved us over to the big, long tables. Probably cuz we had a large party or something.

Merc and I shared a pizza and Vanilla Coke, mmm. We sat with God again.. He thanked me for nominating him as best teacher, or some award like that. I think it was for the Who's Who Among High School or whatver that thing is called. We all chatted with him, had him caught up with everyone.. it was a joyous occasion.

After eating a cheese pizza, Merc, Bel, Matt, and I went into the little playground thingy. Man did our knees hurt! We were banging on one of the plastic windows to get God's attention, and ended up getting our pictures taken instead, haha. We soon grew tired of crawling around though, so we went back to the tables and just chilled.

It was about 8 PM when us 8th graders began leaving to go to the movie theater. We hugged and said goodbye to God and hoped to see him again soon. It was sad. =( I'm just glad we were able to see him again before he moves. I forgot when he moves... does anybody remember?!?

Merc, Matt, and I watched Star Wars while the rest of them watched The Longest Yard. Merc started feeling ill though, so us three walked to Best Buy. Matt bought the War of the Worlds game vard and Merc bought a Beethoven CD. Merc wanted to sit though, so we looked for a bench to sit on... We found a box of Trojans on one of the benches... =\

AFter 10 we caught up with the rest of the peoples.. stood in the theater for a while, lol... uhh... yea... then we split and left.

Okay.. this post is EXTREMELY PHOTO HEAVY and most of the pictures are about 40KB or higher!
